Code of ethics for the use of the go~mus software

go~mus is a software for the responsible management of visitors in museums and other cultural institutions, primarily public institutions. In line with the principles of education, mediation, preservation and research, go~mus promotes a safe, respectful and inclusive environment that upholds the highest standards of ethical conduct and follows the legal foundations. Responsible use of the software is therefore central to protecting and advancing these core values.
By our ethical principles, we and our clients commit to not using the go~mus software for activities that violate applicable laws, regulations or provisions and thereby endanger the safety and integrity of the community, in particular in connection with:
- (a) illegal narcotics, steroids, illegal substances or other products that could compromise visitor safety,
- (b) the distribution or provision of drug paraphernalia,
- (c) the sale of tobacco products,
- (d) the provision or distribution of items that encourage, instruct or support unlawful behaviour,
- (e) trade in stolen or unlawfully acquired goods, including digital or virtual products,
- (f) the promotion of hatred, violence, discrimination or criminal activities,
- (g) the distribution or use of content whose purpose is to harm other people,
- (h) the violation of copyrights, trademark rights, personal rights or other legal protective rights,
- (i) sexually oriented content or services that are incompatible with the core values of the public institution,
- (j) the sale of ammunition, weapons or their accessories,
- (k) certain weapons subject to special regulations,
- (l) promoting, depicting, glossing over or distorting animal suffering,
- (m) promoting environmental destruction or pollution, or depicting, glossing over or distorting it outside documentary activities,
- (n) encouraging the spread of misinformation or populist views.
Personal and social responsibility
go~mus must not be used for activities that undermine personal and social responsibility by:
- (a) unlawfully making protected personal data of third parties accessible,
- (b) promoting gambling, pyramid schemes or similar programs that promise unfair financial advantages,
- (c) being connected to financial programs used to circumvent financial obligations,
- (d) involving products or services that are not yet available at the time of use,
- (e) being processed by other providers on behalf of the users, unless this is contractually defined and approved by Giant Monkey,
- (f) including the sale of traveller's cheques or money orders,
- (g) involving unethical or impermissible financial transactions,
- (h) serving to improve credit ratings or to settle debts without a sound legal basis,
- (i) involving bribery or corruption in any form.
Further restrictions
go~mus must not be used for activities that pose a high risk of fraudulent behaviour as defined by the competent authorities. Activities subject to authorisation may only be carried out with appropriate permission.
This policy ensures responsible, ethical and legally compliant use of go~mus and supports museums and public institutions in their commitment to education and cultural mediation in a safe and respectful environment.
