go~CO2 Tracker

CO2 accounting for cultural institutions according to the KlimaBilanzKultur standard. Automated calculation, geo tracking and comprehensive reporting.

CO2 culture standards

The CO2 culture standard was developed by an expert group and discussed at the Conference of Cultural Ministers on 11 October 2023. The goal is to establish a uniform basis for CO2 accounting in cultural institutions.

From the GHG Protocol to the KlimaBilanzKultur standard

The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) is an international standard for greenhouse gas accounting. The KlimaBilanzKultur standard for cultural institutions was derived from it and divides emissions into three categories:

  • KBK: e.g. goods transport, staff commuting, business travel
  • KBK+: e.g. visitor travel
  • Beyond Carbon: e.g. paper consumption

Important: The emissions captured in KBK+, in particular visitor travel, often account for up to 85% of the total CO2 footprint of cultural institutions.

The go~CO2 Tracker

Multi-purpose approach

  • Capture data for visitors, guides, lecturers, staff and transport
  • Use of geo data for precise and automated distance calculation
  • Export to external CO2 tools (e.g. the DMB Excel tool "CO2-Kulturrechner")

Advantages of the go~mus integration

  • Minimal staff effort for data entry and analysis
  • Direct integration into existing booking and payment systems
  • Automatic data output in the required format

Data capture and calculation

  • Easy entry of departure and arrival details
  • Automatic calculation of CO2 emissions per mode of transport
  • High data quality through standardised capture
  • Clear user interface for selecting transport modes and distances

Features of go~CO2 Tracker

1. Automated CO2 calculation

  • Allocation of emissions per mode of transport according to the standards of the German Environment Agency
  • Automatic distance calculation via geo tracking
  • Fewer errors and less time required thanks to automation

2. Comprehensive export and reporting functions

  • Data export as CSV or Excel for external CO2 analysis tools
  • Emission statistics available directly in go~mus
  • Automatic year-end reports for CO2 accounting

3. Flexible capture options

  • Integration via POS, backend, tablets or email surveys
  • Capture of several journeys per booking
  • Inclusion of demographic data

With go~CO2 Tracker, we make sustainability not only measurable but also manageable, directly within the workflows of cultural institutions. Whether visitors, staff or art transport, our tool brings transparency to the CO2 footprint and enables targeted measures to reduce emissions.
